The Addams Family - Anjelica Huston and Raul Julia

Description: Angelica Huston as Morticia Addams offers comfort to her husband Gomez (Raul Julia) in the horror comedy motion picture The Addams Family (1991).

Gomez Addams is a wealthy, eccentric cigar-smoking lawyer who lives in a spooky Victorian mansion with his slender wife, Morticia, who when she speaks the French language, it drives Gomez crazy with desire.

As Gomez would say "Tish! When you speak French, it drives me wild, Cara Mia!" Gomez would then grab her arm and plant a trail of kisses from her hand up to her waiting lips. Gomez proclaims his love, by saying, "I would die for her. I would kill for her. Either way, what bliss."

The Addams family credo is "Sic gorgiamus allos subjectatos nunc." Translated from Latin, the credo reads "We gladly feast on those who would subdue us."

Gomez and Morticia share their creepy abode with their droll, young daughter, Wednesday Addams (Christina Ricci); her brother, Pugsley (Jimmy Workman); their hag of a Granny (Judith Malina); Couisn It (John Franklin), their hairy relative; Thing, a crawling, disembodied hand; and the family's towering manservant Lurch (Carel Struycken).

"They say a man who represents himself has a fool for a client. Well, with God as my witness, I am that fool!" - Gomez to his family

To entertain themselves, the Addams children like to dig up bodies in the family cemetery and to experiment with electricity.

The Addams Family - Wednesday and Pugsley with Elecric Chair

On one occasion, Wednesday asks Pugsley to sit in an electric chair. “Why?" he asks. Wednesday replies, “Because we’re going to play a game." Pugsley inquires, "What game?“ as his sister straps himr tightly to the chair. Then Wednesday reveals, “It’s called ‘Is there a God?’” Now strapped tightly to the chair, Wednesday cranks on a switch to warm it up. When Pugsley asks "Why?" she tell him. "So it can kill you." Pugsley replies, "I knew that."

When Morticia comes upon the two children, she asks, "Children, what are you doing?" Wednesday says, "I'm going to electrocute him." But Morticia has other plans, and says, "But we're late for the charity auction." Wednesday protests "But, mother..." and Pugsley pleads, "Pleeaaaase?" Morticia gives into the kids, and says, "Oh, all right," and lets her two children continue their macabre game.

Amidst all of this morbid frivolity, con artist Abigail Craven (Elizabeth Wilson) in the guise of Dr. Greta Pinder-Schlossa tries to convince the family that she has found the family's long lost bald Uncle Fester (Christopher Lloyd) who has been gone for 25 years.

It turns out that the imposter, Gordon Graven, who has been suffering amnesia for years, is in reality, the real Uncle Fester who finds the Addams mansion eerily familiar and easily adapts to his new environment.

Uncle Fester: Gomez, do you remember what we were like? I hated you!
Gomez: I despised you!
Uncle Fester: I choked him until he lost consciousness and had to be put on a respirator!
Gomez: I tied him to a tree and pulled out four of his permanent teeth!
Uncle Fester: When he was asleep, I opened his skull, and removed his brains!
Gomez: You did?
Uncle Fester: [laughs hysterically] Ah, brother!
Gomez: Brother! [Gomez flings twenty knives all around Fester's body as he laughs hysterically]
Uncle Fester: Children, you see?

With the con artist's plan to fleece the Addams of money revealed, Fester reunites with the Addams Family and moves into their mansion once again.

When Gomez asks, "Children, why do you hate the baby?" Pugsley answers, "We don't hate him. We just wanna play with him." Wednesday adds, "Especially his head."

Later, Wednesday and Pugsley play a game where they plan drop a cannonball and baby Pubert from a high place to see which one will bounce on the stone walkway below. "There's only one way to find out," says Wednesday. "Ready? One... two... three..."

Morticia: Children, do you think we love the baby more than we love you?
The Children: Yes.
Morticia: Do you think that when a new baby arrives, one of the other children has to die?
The Children: Yes.
Grandma: Well that's just not true. Not anymore.

Luckily, for Pubert, the Addams hire Debbie Jellinsky (Joan Cusack) to be the nanny to care for their new born. But the gold-digging Debbie has other plans. She wants to marry Uncle Fester and then kill him, so she can get her hands on Addams Family fortune.

When Wednesday and Pugsley become suspicious of the new nanny's intentions toward their uncle, Debbie ships them off to summer camp. With the kids out of the way, Debbie marries Fester and begins to plot varioous ways to bump him off.

The children, however, distrupt the summer camp activities by setting fire to a stage performance about the Pilgrims meeting the Indians and then return in time to save Fester from almost certain death.

"So I-I killed. So I maimed. So I destroyed one innocent life after another. Aren't I a human being? Don't I yearn, and ache, and shop? Don't I deserve love... and jewelry?" - Debbie Jellinsky
