Description: The term used in the motion picture Coyote Ugly (2000) by Lil (Maria Bello) the owner of a New York City nightclub named “Coyote Ugly” where only beautiful women are hired to serve the drinks and drive the largely male crowd crazy.
The following script excerpt explains the definition of ‘Coyote Ugly’ used in the film:
|Girl:||Can I ask you something?|
|Girl:||What does Coyote Ugly mean?|
|Lil:||Did you ever wake up sober after a one night stand, and
the person you're next to is lying on your arm, and they're
so ugly, you'd rather chew off your arm than risk waking 'em?
That's coyote ugly.
|Girl:||My God. Well, why would you name your bar after something
|Lil:||Oh, 'cause Cheers was taken.|
Later, Lil hires an aspiring songwriter named Violet Sanford (Piper Perabo) to be one of her new bar maids.
Grateful for the job, but curious as to why Lil hired her, Violet asks, "I don't mean to press my luck, would you mind telling me why you're hiring me?" Lil replies, "Because, the average male is walking around with a toddler inside his pants, a two-year-old right there inside his dockers."
Perplexed, Violet queries, "Men have two-year-old children in their pants - that's why you're hiring me? Lil answers, "You look like a kindergarten teacher. The kids will love it." The light bulb finally goes on in Violet's brain, and she quickly says, "Sorry I asked."
