"Your mother sucks cock in hell, Karras!"
Description - The voice of Mercedes McCambridge as the demon who possesses the body of twelve-year-old Regan MacNeil (Linda Blair) in the motion picture The Exorcist (1973).
To distract and delay the exorcism proceedings, the demon taunts Father Damian Karras (Jason Miller), the assistant to Father Merrin (Max von Sydow) by imitating the voice of his deceased mother, and proclaiming, “Your mother sucks cock in hell, Karras, you faithless slime!” and "You killed your mother! You left her alone to die! Bastard!" As the demon takes over the girl’s body, it bellows, “Keep away! The sow is mine!”
While inside Regan, the demon made her says some very naughty things, such as: "Stick your cock up her ass, you motherfucking worthless cocksucker," "Lick me, lick me!," "Do you know what she did, your cunting daughter?" and "Let Jesus fuck you, let Jesus fuck you. Let him fuck you"[masturbating with a crucifix].
In preparation for the exorcism, Father Merrin offers these suggestions to Father Karras:
“Especially important is the warning to avoid conversations with the demon. We may ask what is relevant, but anything beyond that is dangerous. He is a liar; The demon is a liar. He will lie to confuse us, but he will also mix lies with the truth to attack us.The attack is psychological, Damien, and powerful. So don't listen to him. Remember that - do not listen.”
To cast out the demon, both Father Merrin and Karras repeat the phrase, "The power of Christ compels you! The power of Christ compels you!"
|Father Merrin:||I cast you out! Unclean spirit!|
|Demon:||Shove it up your ass, you faggot!|
|Father Merrin:||In the Name of our Lord Jesus Christ! It is he who commands you! It is he who flung you from the gates of Heaven to the depths of Hell!|
|Father Merrin:||Be gone...|
|Demon:||Fuck him, Karras! Fuck him!|
|Father Merrin:||...from this creature of God! Be gone! In the Name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit!|
At the film's conclusion, in an effort to save Regan from the demon, Father Karras acts as a sacrificial lamb, and cries, "Take me. Come into me. God damn you. Take me. Take me." The demon accepts the new host, enters the priest, and then the priest jumps out the window and falls to his death. Whether the evil entity died with the priest or slipped away in the vapor, well, that no one knows.
Note: The Exorcist and its sequels Exorcist II: The Heretic (1977), Exorcist III (1990), Exorcist IV (2004), and Dominion: The Prequel to the Exorcist (2005) were adapted from the William Peter Blatty’s best-selling novel “The Exorcist.”
