Black SplatJuice (1992)

"Riverside, Motherfucker!"

"Juice" starring Tupac Shakur - Bishop shoots Raheem

Description - Tupac Shakur as Roland Bishop delivers a pointed eulogy to a rival street thug in the motion picture Juice (1992).

In the film, Bishop and his three teenage friends ("The Wrecking Crew) are at odds with the rough urban landscape of Riverside, a ghetto in Harlem. They are constantly being harrassed by rival gangs and hoods as the walk the streets of their neighborhood. Bishop decides to get a gun because he feels he has no "Juice" (power, respect). He uses the gun during a mini-mart robbery and shoots the owner in the head. Later, Bishop tries to frame his friend Quincy "Q" Powell (Omar Epps) for the murder.

One day, a rival Puerto Rican thug named Radames (Vincent Laresca) and his Posse harrass Bishop and back him against a wall. Bishop calls Radames a "Fuckin' punk Spic" so Radames pulls out a knife. Sticking the tip of the blade into Bishop's nostril, Radames says, "Chinatown" (a reference to the movie where Jack Nicholson's nose was sliced open by a similar street thug).

Bishop tells Radames, "I must have missed it" then defiantly slugs Radames in the stomach. Bishop is then set upon by the other thugs and beaten on the ground until a burst of police siren sends everyone scattering. Bishop pursues Radames who ducks down an alley for cover. As Bishop approaches, he says, "We lost them." (meaning the police) but Bishop, tired of being pushed around, pulls out a gun, shoots Radames in the chest and shouts, "Riverside, Motherfucker!" (a payback for the "Chinatown" snub that Radames gave earlier).

Earlier in the film, Bishop spoke with three of his Harlem homies and shared his philosophy on success:

“You gotta snap some collars and let them motherfuckers know you here to take them out anytime you feel like it! You gotta get the ground beneath your feet, partner, get the wind behind your back and go out in a blaze if you got to! Otherwise, you ain't shit! You might as well be dead your damn self!”

The film ends with Bishop going power mad and searching out his best friend to kill him. He chases "Q" into a party and shoots at him. Bishop loses his gun in a scuffle with "Q" that moves out to a rooftop. Bishop falls over a ledge and "Q" grabs his hand, but loses his grip and Bishop falls to his death. An on-looker from the party comments, "Yo, you got the juice now, man." "Q" just shakes his head and walks away.
