Description: Derogatory term given to starship Captain James T. Kirk (William Shatner) by the followers of Dr. Severin (Skip Homeier) on episode #75 “Way To Eden” of the science fiction series STAR TREK/NBC/1966-69.
Dr. Severin and his hippie-like renegades (who renounce modern technology) began referring to Kirk as "Herbert" when the Starship Enterprise apprehended a stolen starcraft piloted by Serverin and his group. Kirk interrupted their pilgrimage to a mythical planet known as Eden.
When Kirk inquires about the term "Herbert" Vulcan Science Officer Mr. Spock (Lenard Nimoy explains that "Herbert" was a minor government official notorious for his rigid patterns of thought.
Adam (Charles Napier), one of the space hippies also called Kirk "The Great White Captain Upstairs." The hippies, however, liked Mr. Spock because they felt he "reached" (understood) them. See also - "Broccoli"
